Del Toro archivia la giornataccia del giorno precedente e vince  tappa da da San Michele all’Adige a Bormio, dimostrando che la benzina nelle gambe c’è ancora. Nel finale ha ritrovato l’esplosività che aveva messo in mostra nelle prime due settimane. Il problema per lui sembrano le salite lunghe, visto che anche sul Mortirolo ha fatto parecchia fatica ed è stato salvato dalla squadra, che ha recuperato sull’attacco di Carapaz. Il messicano conserva la maglia rosa e il vantaggio comincia ad essere interessante.
